Tariq Riaz Featured in JZA’s Global Connect Lookbook: A Fusion of Engineering, Architecture, and Culture in Fine Jewelry

I’m thrilled to share that my work has been featured in JZA’s Global Connect Lookbook—an international showcase of inspiring designs from jewelry creators around the world. As a designer, I’ve always sought to combine my background in engineering with my love for architecture, history, and culture, and I’m excited to see these elements highlighted in this feature.

One of the standout pieces discussed is the Qasr Al Hosn Ring, part of my collection inspired by Emirati heritage. This ring expands up to nine sizes and draws inspiration from the historic Qasr Al Hosn palace and fort, located at the heart of Abu Dhabi. The architecture of this ancient fort is a symbol of the UAE’s rich history and resilience. The design elements of the fort’s decorative tiles influenced the intricate enameling work found inside the ring, capturing the beauty and heritage of this iconic site. It’s an honor to bring such historical and cultural motifs into my fine jewelry designs, celebrating the UAE’s legacy through craftsmanship.

Another collection featured in JZA is the Wishbone Collection—a unique and innovative series of rings, earrings, and bracelets inspired by the delicate structure of a chicken wishbone. I spent over eight months researching and developing the mechanisms behind these pieces to ensure they articulate naturally and fluidly, allowing for seamless expansion. This process embodies my design philosophy, where functionality meets beauty, creating timeless pieces that are not only visually stunning but also practical and comfortable to wear.

Every piece I create is born from my studio in Abu Dhabi, which I consider my “creative zone.” It’s where I dream up designs that merge tradition with modernity, creating a harmonious balance between engineering precision and artistic expression. My goal has always been to offer clients a fusion of high-end jewelry that is both aesthetically pleasing and functionally innovative.
